Figure 1: First screen, with no actions started. The reason for trying this program... just to see if it was faster than Windows Copy / Move and if it avoided stoppage-on-error messages. Yes, the speed is probably faster, since buffer size adjusts. And although the verify process did report an error reading a file (I believe when copying the ISO for a Linux distro... "The semaphore timeout period has expired. Code 21") a stoppage did not occur. [I didn't research this error message.] The important thing here, is that TeraCopy did not 'choke'; it just carried on and reported the error in the log file. [More, actions may be possible, as this is a cursory overview from a novice user.] Furthermore, if Transfer is interrupted, TeraCopy will pick up again where it left off, to complete the operation. It can skip same files, or copy with rename, I believe. To test the program, I asked it to copy a very large folder to a backup USB spinning drive. The final transfer was my complete download directory, to a backup USB 3.0 drive. All 47 GB copied in 52 minutes, at 15 Mb / sec, for 14,705 files. A USB-C transfer would have been faster. Figure 2: Large copy job, completed. Since Hash tags were applied during copying (for later verification) I ran the Verify function, which took about 38 minutes at 21 MB / sec for all 14,705 files. Figure 3: Verificaiton of the same large job. [The only drawback I noticed with the free version... occasional pop-ups directing to the paid version when trying some options. If this happens, try closing the program and re-opening; the problem may go away.] System requirements: Platform: Windows 7-11 and MacOS Version: 3.17 Language: English Download Size: 11.8 MB Installed Size: 18.2 MB Licence: FREE (paid is $20 USD) Rating: Download Site here. |
