This free version well likely handle most user needs. [I needed only one search and replace operation recently, applied to over one hundred improperly named image scans.]
All I needed to do was change 1965, to 1967, in all of the filenames. [The free version allows adding up to 5 rules and remembering them as presets. The paid version ($ 20 USD), places no limits on either.]
ReNamer Lite has about one dozen other rules, with fine tuning for each.
Notice the pre-view list, generated automatically.
After downloading the Portable version, expanding it and clicking on the executable file... no installation was required. However, I made a Send to... shortcut to the desktop, in order to make the program easier to find, when I needed to run it.
Operation is quite intuitive, hardly needing the online instructions (as copied here). The numbered labels simply suggest an order of operations, from 1a to 4. After adding all of the change rules desired, the actual action of renaming will happen only when the number 4 option is clicked.
