Howard was born in Toronto, Ontario and attended Mimico High School. He graduated from McMaster University with a science degree in biology and chemistry. Always interested in psychology, he later completed a M.Ed. degree in guidance and counselling.

Howard was a teacher / counsellor with the Toronto District School Board for 31 years. For three years, during that time, he was a teacher / counsellor in Lahr, Germany, where he taught the children of Canadian Forces personnel stationed there. He retired as Head of Guidance at Bathurst Hts. S.S. He still does occasional teaching for the Toronto District School Board.

Along the way, Howard completed training in psychotherapy through the Toronto Institute of Relational Psychotherapy. He now lives with his wife, Jacqueline in Ajax, Ontario.

Howard is now a Risk Management and Identity Theft Specialist working with PPL Legal Care of Canada for the past two years.
