Using Control Panel to remove software is not nearly as efficient as using BCU, because you must perform each uninstall, one at a time when using the Windows method. BCU does more than just automate (mostly automate) uninstalling software from your computer; you can select many programs, all at once.
I should mention that the boxes at the bottom of the screen indicate the relative size of each program. Hover on a box will show the name of the program. Clicking on a box will take you to its location in the list of installed programs.
BCU will first make a restore point, then tackle uninstalling all of the "loud" procedures... those requiring you to stick around and click on some confirmation buttons for a select few programs that will require user input, whether done this way or through control panel.
After uninstalling this first batch, you can likely walk away from the computer, while all the other "quiet" uninstallations happen. When finished with all those, BCU can do a clean-up of left-over files.
Finally, it will locate and list all registry entries that may still need deleting, allowing you to decided on which ones will be deleted based on the safety of each choice. BCU will also make a registry backup, just in case you need to put these values back into the registry.
The expert mode will allow uninstallation of protected items. Orphaned programs - those without a custom uninstaller - will be listed for you to uninstall with BCU A start-up manager is included. For those who need to manage large numbers of computers, as in a lab, BCU will uninstall based on a list you create. BCU will investigate certificates and tell you who verified them.
