Fred Fernbach recommended this software addition. Few seem to know about it, outside of the artist special effects world. Krita began as an improved GIMP. Krita now specializes in high end drawing and painting. An add-on accompanies the Windows installer, that allows for the creation of thumbnails within Explorer. Krita also claims the ability to open files that even Photoshop cannot.
When I installed Krita on a touch-screen, Win8.1 laptop, it objected to not finding a pen or tablet installed. However, the glide pad cursor worked, and I used my finger or the cursor to draw, in a first attempt to use a few of the drawing tools.
