Scan and clean infections using either the installed version or the command line version (for advanced users), preferably on thumb drive and during the boot process. The signatures database claims to hold over 11 million items, and yet the running processes require only 200 MB RAM on a computer with at least 1 GB RAM.
A fresh update to the database may be required, even though the downloaded installer might be a day or so old.
The interface is quite clear and easy to use, with hints to purchase the full EMSISoft services arising only occasionally.
I chose to try the installed version, which provided numerous options for settings. Although the default settings should work just fine, I asked it not to scan for PUPs, or the restore directory.
The emergency kit files will all be located on the C: drive in the EEK folder. Here, you can see both the commandline and the regular scanner exec files.
When ready to scan, pick one of the three options.
Here are some of the Custom Scan options.
