Wikipedia - the Encyclopedia Anyone Can Edit
Presented by Anne Delong

Wikipedia is the fifth most popular website on the planet, and the world's most-consulted online information source; its pages are viewed about 15 billion times each month. Founded in 2001, funded through donations, with content contributed almost entirely by volunteers, today Wikipedia provides information to readers in over 300 languages. The English Wikipedia alone has more than 5 million articles. Learn how the Wikimedia Foundation has managed to maintain the project as "the encyclopedia anyone can edit" without having it taken over by fake news, biased opinion and vandalism. Also find out how to judge the reliability of the information you read there. For those who've never edited Wikipedia, Anne will show how this is done; to save time you can make a Wikipedia account ahead of time.

The Club's General Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at Faith United Church, 1778 Nash Road in Courtice, 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
