Computers in Amateur Radio

This presentation is a 1,000 foot view of how computers have not replaced radio but instead how it has transformed radio into a play space for not only Electronic Engineering techies but Computer Science junkies as well. It draws on all the reasons I decided to get my licence a year ago while doing my degree in Information Technology. There is a focus more from a CompSci enthusiasts point of view but Hams and Coders alike will walk away wanting to know more about one of the really exciting and inventive things amateurs all over the world are doing today to push the limits of radio. This is my presentation agenda:

It's not computers or radio anymore anyway. Mobile has made computers ever more radio like while software defined radio has made radios ever more computer like..

The Club's General Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at Faith United Church, 1778 Nash Road in Courtice, 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
