A Video Extravaganza


The April meeting will feature Dave Creasy, from the “The Video Guy Inc.” in Whitby and Dave Swain, a D.P.C.U.C. member to demonstate how to manipulate video.

Mr. Creasy will talk about some of the technical aspects of video recording and discuss how to transform your old VHS tapes into DVD format. Dave has over 30 years of experience in video and conversion from photos, slides and film to DVD. His business also has “Do It Yourself” edit suites for those that don’t want to invest in any equipment. His business can duplicate or convert any format. Bring your questions, as Dave has the experience to answer them.

Mr. Swain will provide a live demonstration of Adobe Premiere Elements and Adobe Photo Shop Elements for Club members and guests.

  • Background on various video formats i.e. Beta, VHS, Mpeg, avi etc.
  • Review of what the average person is likely to encounter
  • Analog versus Digital – Pros & Cons
  • How can I take my old VHS tapes and convert them to a DVD?
  • What programs can I use? What equipment do I need?
  • Practical demonstration of Adobe Premiere Elements
  • Practical demonstration of Adobe Photo Shop Elements, done by Dave Swain.
  • Question & Answer Session

There will also be a members only draw for door prizes provided by Adobe and Future Shop.

The Club's General Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at Faith United Church, 1778 Nash Road in Courtice, 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
